When it comes to designing your home, the space most people look to first is the living room. No surprise there. Your living room is likely the space you spend the most time in – it’s where you host guests, hang out with your family, or curl up with a book or TV show at the end of the day.
But, let’s talk for a minute about bedrooms. We’re already knee-deep in 2019, and if you resolved to give your home a little design-love, don’t write off your bedroom just yet. After all, this is your space to relax and unwind from a hectic day – it deserves a little extra special design treatment.
If a full bedroom makeover isn’t in the cards for you right now, that’s ok! One of our favorite (and the easiest) places to give your bedroom some love, is with that big, blank wall above your bed frame. Give your space a mini upgrade by crowning that space with a piece of art. This will not only give your room a design pick-me-up, it will also set the tone for the rest of the space.

Fresh out of bedroom wall art ideas? Don’t worry, just like your cozy duvet, we’ve got you covered. Read on for three quick ideas on how to hang art above and around your bed!
1. Statement Art
One of the easiest bedroom wall art ideas is to hang one amazing piece of art in the center of that empty space above your bed.
This simple approach works in most bedrooms, but be sure to take several factors into consideration. The piece you choose will set the tone for the rest of your space, so make sure it’s something you like and won’t wind up clashing with other elements of your space. It can help to start by thinking about the colors, subject matter, and scale you want for the piece.
And while you might love a number of artworks, it’s also important to make sure it will fit and feel balanced in your space. Do you have a tall headboard? Is your bed wide or narrow? Consider a piece that’s about two-thirds the width of your headboard with a landscape orientation for a more balanced look.

2. Flanking Art
Perhaps you have an impressively high headboard or you simply fear being bonked on the head by a falling picture. If that’s the case, a pair of artworks flanking your nightstands is a great alternative.
One of our favorite bedroom wall art ideas, try this approach if your bed has room to host a nightstand on either side. Give it a go by centering your art above your nightstands. Try to make sure you hang them at the same heigh for maximum symmetry.
For a more petite room, try artworks that are narrower than your nightstand. If you’ve got a lot of space, or just like a bit of drama, go for two oversized pendant pieces. If you want a more classic look, try picking two pieces from a matching set with the same frame and dimensions. Feeling more eclectic? Consider two pieces united only by their color palette or with different frames.

3. Ascending Gallery Wall
If you prefer something less matchy-matchy, embrace the ascending gallery wall. Create yours from multiple pieces of art and group them around your favorite side of the bed.
This approach will draw your eye upward and make a low-ceiling room look taller. It’s also a great way to create visual balance if your bed is pushed up against a wall on one side.
When you choose your pieces, make certain that they are united by a theme, color palette or both. Need help? Modsy designers can curate a look for you. All you have to do is bring it to life!
