Christina and her husband had just moved into their first home when they found out they were expecting baby #1 and had to quickly transform a sparse office into a sweet nursery. But Christina worried about creating a functional layout for the space without skimping on style before the baby’s due date.
Homeowner: Chirstina, her husband, and (soon-to-be) baby #1
Spaces: Nursery
Their Style: Rustic Warmth
The Backstory
My husband and I found out we were having a baby just a few months after buying our first home. COVID and stay-at-home orders were in full swing and we were both working from home—meaning that our would-be nursery was a bare room with a single desk for taking video calls. That was fine for the time being, but the room would require a complete overhaul before the baby’s arrival in summer 2021.
The Design Dilemma
We were so excited for our baby and for a beautiful nursery where we could make memories. But while the empty room initially seemed like an ideal starting point for our design project, it actually felt a bit daunting. The room is small and I was intimidated by the thought of trying to figure out the most functional layout without sacrificing on style and decor. As first-time parents, it was also hard knowing exactly what nursery furniture was essential for the small room and what we could skip. And with manufacturing and shipping delays to consider, I also knew that I didn’t have a ton of time to go the trial-and-error route and needed to call in the experts. That’s where Modsy came in.

Given the size of the nursery, I wanted the room to have all the essential elements (and maybe one or two nice-to-haves), but also be a space with an inviting, calm vibe. Our Modsy designer truly gave us the best of both worlds. She created a functional layout with a clever mix of closed and open storage to keep the small space tidy. She also brought in a color palette of soothing green and pops of gold to make the space relaxed and pretty. The designs truly made us even more excited for our little one’s arrival (which was no easy feat) and helped us to imagine all of the sweet and special memories that would be made in this space.

The Real Results
Modsy captured my desire to lead with the functionality of the space and then layered in stylish elements to bring the nursery to life. I wanted everything in the space to serve a purpose and create a sense of calm. Our designer more than exceeded our expectations and now the nursery is my favorite room in the house! I don’t think I could have achieved the final result on my own, without the help of Modsy.
