When Seb and Nic moved into their Manhattan apartment they wanted to create a calming space to escape the chaos of busy city life. But their mismatched furniture failed to capture the serene vibe they wanted in their space.

The Backstory

My partner and I are both from Buenos Aires.  We moved to New York four years ago and have been trying to find a space we truly loved in the city for a while. When we moved into our new apartment we were really wanting to create a space that felt like an oasis away from hectic Manhattan life. But after years of moving from one place to another—while we each maintained busy work schedules—we were left with an incohesive assortment of furniture that failed to provide us with the relaxing shelter we so desired.

The Design Dilemma

Nic and I liked some of our furniture but we also owned items we’d grown tired of. Everything we had acquired over our many moves had become so random and we didn’t know how to make anything go together in our new space. We wanted to take this opportunity in our new apartment to keep only the items that we really loved, using those pieces as a springboard to reinvent our style and make our apartment a place of relaxation. We knew we needed professional interior design help so we signed up for Modsy.

The Modsy Moment

Seeing our spaces in 3D was a real wow moment for us.We really liked the design options right away, and the changes we requested were just small details which our designer found solutions for very quickly. She even found very similar items to a couple of key pieces in our space—like a hexagonal bar cart and our dining table—allowing us to see how the items we loved would work with the new designs they were helping to inspire. She was also so responsive it was the same level of service you’d expect from any great New York interior designer.

The Real Results

Working with our designer was a great experience. She understood exactly what we were looking for from the first time we connected and the end result was excellent. We’re very happy with how the designs turned out. Our apartment has become the restful oasis we wanted thanks to the cohesive design we got from Modsy. The space feels so pampering, like a luxury hotel where every piece of furniture and decor was selected just for us.
